A Little Sparkle is Good for the Soul

What wardrobe is complete without a little sparkle in it? Trick question, none. I received this dress from OASAP and it instantly satisfied my need for a little shine. It’s the perfect combination of sparkle and easiness with the knit texture and plain back. You can find the dress on the OASAP website here.

This was Boston’s second year participating in Fashion’s Night Out and it was a blast! I walked down Newbury with some friends taking in the music, people, and of course the clothes.

Going into this new year I’m feeling so grateful. 2013 was an incredible 365 days for Trends and Tolstoy. I traveled in Europe for three months, attended my first fashion week, hosted two events, won the Boston A-List best fashion blog title, and secured my post-graduation future as a fashion blogger.

I can’t wait to see what 2014 has in store for us (dare I forecast a sequin jumpsuit?). Thank you all so much for your support as Trends and Tolstoy continues to grow and thrive in leather and four inch heels.

Just a Little Glamour

After a pretty awful week I decided to blow off some steam in the best way I know how – a photoshoot with fur and sequins. Because what could make a fashionista feel better than a little sparkle?

I found this fur coat at the Salvation Army and coveted it for weeks until it finally went on sale.

Friday Night Lights

I usually keep it pretty basic when I go out at night. I wear black leather either in the form of a dress or pants with slinky accessories and practical shoes. Clubs aren’t really my scene so I never feel the need to wear bodycon dresses and sky high heels. But sometimes I want to get a little glamorous for a night out. Enter sequins.

fridaynightlights4This vintage blue sequined dress is incredibly comfortable and very sexy. Anytime I can find that combination it’s a win. I’ll take an open back over a plunging neckline any day and this dress is the perfect balance between sultry and classy. fridaynightlights3This is my Whitey Bulger impression (see my review of Black Mass). I’m not sure he would’ve been so down for the sequins though. fridaynightlights5Lately I can’t enough of this purple/grey color by Essie. It’s edgy without the harshness of black polish. fridaynightlights
